Safety is the heart and soul of all receiving.
When you don’t feel safe, your body assumes a survival posture. Your animal instinct gets activated and the natural resources that you access to receive, are replaced with the natural resources that you access to survive.
Imagine your hands as your interface with life itself.
When you feel unsafe, your hands are not receptive. They may be up and flat, ready to push away a threat. They may be clenched into fists ready to strike. They may be over your head or your body as you protect your vital organs, hide, or play dead. Or they may be grasping and snatching whatever is at hand as you run for your life.
When, however, you feel safe, your hands are open and your arms are outstretched. You are welcoming, receptive, and inviting. Because you are relaxed, your gaze can capture more than just threats or avenues of escape. Your vision is expansive and you see lush supply everywhere. You accept everything with gratitude and fully experience what is here. Let it move through your life and let it land as part of your experience. As each offering completes its purpose, you open your hands again and invite the next opportunity.
We struggle when we have learned or come to believe that the world is unsafe. Some struggle is a valid and natural part of life. There are times life is, or feels, unsafe and our animal instinct serves us well.
However, we struggle unnecessarily when we don’t know, or have forgotten, that we have an abundantly overflowing wellspring of safety within. This internal source of safety is natural to whom and what we are. We also struggle unnecessarily when we don’t know how to access the abundance of support and safety that exists all around us.
And yet, even if safety is unfamiliar or forgotten, you don’t need to know how to access it. You need only to be willing. Your awareness is the key to everything. Awareness is the first level of receiving.
As you become willing to receive, experience, and feel safe, you will become more and more aware of how safety is available to you within and without. And as you do, you expand in your capacity to receive the abundance and well-being that is always here.
