As a self-proclaimed empath, not only do I feel my own feelings deeply, I feel those of others. All the time and a lot.
Although, it has taken me a bit to sort through the swirls and waves, it has gotten clearer and clearer:
So many are being so hard on themselves.
We feel life pushing on us and pulling at us.
Whether it is holidays, or traffic, or acts of violence, or politics, or family, or our every day responsibilities… there’s an amplification.
People are feeling it.
And what is our common response?
We feel we must rise up to *meet* the amplification.
Many of us respond as if navigating a threat.
Fight.
Flight.
Or Freeze.
We steel ourselves to handle more.
Or we demand more of ourselves.
Or we go into hiding.
All because we get swept up in the swirls and waves, unaware that we have free will. We have a choice.
We can react.
Or we can respond.
This morning in meditation, I heard one word:
Kindness.
What if you respond to life with kindness?
What if you respond to yourself with kindness?
What would that look like for you?
I know what it looks like for me.
A different Universe, with possibilities whose doors simply fall open to me.
