We humans spend our lives chasing feelings. While there is a full spectrum of feelings to experience we are driven by two. We chase the feeling of control and we chase the feeling of power. Both feelings are available to us, but each one has a price. In other words,you get the feeling you want by paying with another feeling you don’t want.
If you want the feeling of control you must pay with the feeling of longing. When you feel that you have control you get to have things all your way, but a part of you knows that your way is limited. A part of you longs for something that is simply not available to you in a world under your control. For what you seek can not be controlled. It exists beyond the physical world and it is accessed through your heart and spirit.
If you want the feeling of power you must pay with the feeling of vulnerability. When you feel power, you are alive. Divine life force becomes available to you. I flows in, as and through you. Yet because it is always moving, taking shape and form beyond your wildest imaginings, it can not be controlled. The only way to access it is through an open heart, which feels vulnerable to us when all we’ve known is control. But when we know power, that vulnerability turns to aliveness.
